There has been some additional interest in degradeable bags and some questions. Major questions concern how these bags degrade and the ultimate products left after degradation.
I commissioned Willow Ridge Plastics to analyze the materials we use in our OXO-degradeable bags. In a nutshell, our bags degrade quite well and the end result is CO2, water and humus – pretty much what is left after you grow your mushrooms. No microplastics remain.
The tests used standard protocols in a lab setting, so the actual rates of degredation you see may vary. For this reason and because the additive that allows degradation is not manufactured by us, we cannot guarantee or specify a timeframe for complete degradation of these bags. Read the full report and dig into all the details.

Hi! Can you give a time frame as to when your degradable bags START to degrade?
Hi Melissa,
The Oxo-degradable bags begin to degrade once they are exposed to light and oxygen.
